Your Fraser Island Sea Based Experience
Day 1 - Departure 10am
On the morning of departure you will be picked up by our crew and transferred directly to our Family's 70 foot small luxury cruising ship "DescaradA".
Upon arrival our Captain will greet you and the crew will direct you to your cabin and ensure you are settled in. Shortly after we will depart Urangan Marina and you will be able to view Hervey Bay's main pier and the islands fronting the World Heritage listed Fraser Island .
Our first stop will be at Pelican Bank. This sand bank rises out of the ocean at low tide and is a great place for a walk along the beach, swimming in the clear turquoise waters and an excellent sea bird spotting area for the wildlife enthusiasts.
On leaving Pelican Bank we will head north along the western shores of Fraser Island heading for Wathumba Creek which will be our first overnight stay. Dingoes are often spotted on the beaches in the late afternoon.
Day 2
After breakfast you will be free to explore this tidal creek either from our tender or by kayak. The beaches of Fraser Island at this point are beautiful soft white sand and are probably the best on the Island. This is a surpurb area to see local wildlife such as sea turtles, sea eagles, giant rays and dolphins.
Late morning we will up anchor and head south for Moon Point, which will be our anchorage for night two, passing the magnificent coloured sand "Arch Cliffs' where aboriginal men once played didgeridoos to the migrating giant humpback whales. Moon Point holds a very special place in early indigenous settlement of Fraser Island, no aboriginal male was allowed in the area as it was a birthing & sacred place for aboriginal women only.
Day 3
An early breakfast will be served on the way to Kingfisher Bay Resort. You will be transferred from DescaradA for an all day four wheel drive tour of the world heritage listed Fraser Island.
You will visit sites like the wreck of the Maheno, the crystal clear waters of Eli Creek and Lake McKenzie, as well as Fraser Island's amazing rain forests.
Back onto DescaradA in the afternoon ready to cruise south past the South White Cliffs and McKenzie's Jetty, where we will anchor for the night at Ungowa near a historic ship wreck . This area was home to the Ungowa Forestry Station.
Day 4
After breakfast we will head north back to Urangan Marina. On the way we will pass through the various islands of the Great Sandy Straits.
Disembark around 1pm
